Tim Foley is a songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist whose sound doesn't settle easily into a descriptive box. You'll hear an amalgamation of musical styles he has gravitated towards, which include blues, jazz, folk, classical, and funk. Tim lived in New Orleans for a number of years, and his music is heavily influenced by the city’s tradition of musical experimentation. His songs, featuring solo guitar and combo instrumentals as well as with vocals, range from upbeat foot stompers to relaxing melodic soundscapes. His album 'STOP ALONG THE WAY' featured Tim performing his original material in a group setting and was released in July 2023 and by October of that year the album climbed from the 30 spot to 13th on the Relix Jambands Radio Chart.

What's NEW!

Sonny Barbato - Richard Gates - Lorne Entress - Tim Foley - Fabio Pirozzolo - Dave Westner
Wooly Mammoth Sound, Waltham, MA, was our home for three days in April '25 where I finally started recording the new album of original material with:
Sonny Barbato: Piano, Hammond, Accordion
Richard Gates: Bass
Fabio Pirozzolo: Drums and percussion
Lorne Entress: Producer
Dave Westner: Engineer
The music will probably be considered Roots Music featuring electric funk blues with some New Orleans spice mixed in. The basics for 10 songs were recorded. I'm always amazed what happens when I get such talented people in the same room focused on making the music sound as good as it can be while putting their own ideas in the mix.

Visiting my old friend Taka Moro in his Houston luthier shop. Below, I'm tapping and listening to spruce soundboards. Each piece of wood sounds different. I chose the wood with the most vocal qualities.
Taka and I met in New Orleans, at the Maple Leaf Bar Blues Jam, and ended up performing as a duo around the city. We were known as 'TIMTAKA - Two Guys With Guitars'. After New Orleans, Taka studied many years under a number of reputable luthiers, went off on his own and currently builds beautiful sounding and looking jazz guitars. I requested Taka to make me a guitar that will play two roles, acoustic and electric.
