TIM FOLEY

Tim Foley is a songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist whose sound doesn't settle easily into a descriptive box. You'll hear an amalgamation of musical styles he has gravitated towards, which include blues, jazz, folk, classical, and funk. Tim lived in New Orleans for a number of years, and his music is heavily influenced by the city’s tradition of musical experimentation. His songs, featuring solo guitar and combo instrumentals as well as with vocals, range from upbeat foot stompers to relaxing melodic soundscapes. His latest album 'STOP ALONG THE WAY' features Tim in a group setting and is slated for release on July 28, 2023.

TIM FOLEY GROUP 'Stop Along The Way' squeezed in the #30 spot on the Relix Jambands Radio Chart

I was very fortunate to have had these gentlemen with me on this project. Fabio, Richard and Mike are all versatile with a number of music styles and think outside the box. This album consists of my jazzier sounding material and it has been a delight for me to work with these guys in creating a bigger sound for my music.

My father once stated something that has always stuck with me; "You never know what's around the corner". Depending on your outlook, you could take this statement one of two ways. I have always leaned towards the positive side of it and believe that good things are happening around the bend, you just need to wait a bit.
My wife Kirsten convinced me to enter my music into the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, presented by the Songwriters Association of Washington. For a lark, I entered and won Honorable Mention in the Instrumental Category for my song 'Caribbean Moon For Pat'. This certainly fits right in as the truth of my father's statement.
Caribbean Moon For Pat is featured on my INSTRUMENTALS album along with 8 more original guitar instrumentals.

Whats Going On?
Visiting my old friend Taka Moro in Houston, TX to talk about building a guitar.
Taka and I played together in New Orleans back in early 1999 -2000. We billed ourselves as TIMTAKA - Two Guys With Guitars. Sometimes "Shu" would join us on Sax and then we were known as TIMTAKA-SHU TRIO. We played the Spotted Cat on Frenchmen St and enjoyed after gig coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde at 2am. Taka left New Orleans and studied lutherie under Baker and Machione. He has been a luthier in his own right for a number of years making jazz guitars of his own designs.I hadn't seen Taka in over 20 years and when I arrived at his home/shop, he cooked up some coffee and we hung out in his kitchen. It was like the next night having coffee after another gig. We just picked up where we left off. The visit resulted in rekindling our friendship and tapping spruce and mahogany plates to get in his long line of waiting customers who'll some day play their very own Taka Moro guitar. The wait time for a Taka Moro guitar is about one year.
