Tim Foley
Electronic Press Kit (EPK)

“With an uptown jazzy groove, Foley and company deliver a well-rehearsed set of tunes for sophisticated listeners. Foley may remind some of Robben Ford with his easy swaying, funky delivery.” -Brian M. Owens, Metronome Magazine

Tim is available for booking as a solo performer, a duo with Sonny Barbato on keys, and with the full band as the Tim Foley Group. Please contact zekedeno at comcast.net with inquiries.

Bio:

Tim Foley is a songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist whose sound doesn’t settle easily into a descriptive box. You’ll hear an amalgamation of musical styles he has gravitated toward, which include blues, jazz, folk, classical, and funk. He lived in New Orleans for a number of years, and his music is heavily influenced by the city’s tradition of musical experimentation. His songs, featuring solo guitar and combo instrumentals as well as vocals, range from upbeat foot stompers to relaxing melodic soundscapes.

Street Dog is Foley’s latest album, a savory blend of smartly crafted songs, expertly backed by his band the Tim Foley Group. The sounds of Street Dog are a blend of roots music featuring electric funk blues with some New Orleans spice mixed in. It’s a potpourri of sonic delights, with Foley’s cool vocal presence floating above the easy rhythms of this rootsy session. Foley, on guitar and vocals, is accompanied by a spirited band including Sonny Barbato on Wurlitzer and Hammond organ; Richard Gates on bass; Fabio Pirozzolo on drums; and producer Lorne Entress on percussion. Additional guitarists include Kevin Barry on five tracks and Mike Marino on one. The songs are all evocative stories written by Foley, except for “I Need Someone,” co-written with musician and guitar maker Taka Moro. Songs from the album have received worldwide radio play and have charted on the Roots Music Report.

Street Dog follows the band’s 2023 debut album, Stop Along the Way, released in July 2023, on which Mike McLaughin on saxophone. By October of that year the album climbed from the 30 spot to 13th on the Relix Jambands Radio Chart.

Foley's first album Instrumental features 10 original solo guitar pieces. The track “Caribbean Moon for Pat” won an honorable mention in the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest.
